Welcome back, Highway Highlands Farm Friends!!

Welcome back, Highway Highlands Farm Friends!!

Welcome back, Highway Highlands Farm Friends!!

Here we go again! Steaming, bubbling kettles of nature’s goodness fogging the windows, jars waiting to be filled with your favorites and lots of new flavors, too! Our unofficial list boasts almost 90 tempting varieties of jams, jellies and preserves!

There’s a new landing page on this site (which you saw before you got to this page!), showing off a smattering of all the delectables we make, way too many to fit in the picture!

There’s a link to Captain Carl in the site menu about the very special Captain Carl’s Private Reserve I made in honor of my Dad, United States Army Air Corps Captain Carl J. Sachs, B-17G Pilot, whose name you will find on Wall 3 of the Madison Valley Veterans’ Memorial in downtown Ennis.

Friends and loved ones, there’s nothing like a Montana blizzard to test one’s mettle. Supply chain problems? HA! We found jars! Covid 19? Adios! We made Corona Corona Cuarentena Caliente so you could quarentine with some Hot Corona! The light at the end of the tunnel got real bright and showed us the way!

Happy New Year and see you at the Ennis Farmer’s Market!

What a time this past year has been! I am so excited to finally be back with y’all, IN PERSON! I have been so looking forward to returning to the Ennis Farmer’s Market and seeing all my Ennis Buds again! HHF has been cooking up a storm in our new Galactic Headquarters of Culinary Decadence, after bidding a fond hail and farewell to 2020, 2021, and the smoldering remains of our former home kitchen. Ennis! We are HERE!!

There’s a new page on this site, “Where are we?”, that will keep you apprised of our whereabouts so you can swing by and say Hi! and see what tasty delectables have been created in the new facility. Check that new tab so you don’t miss out on new flavors and old favorites.

Highway Highlands Farm Orange Marmalade Cocktail

Orange Marmalade Cocktail

Highway Highlands Farm Orange Marmalade Cocktail

Though many of us tend to stick with a large dose of coffee before work, back in the 19th and early 20th century, a morning tipple was rather common, and it certainly didn’t seem to hamper productivity during the Industrial Revolution.
The Marmalade Cocktail was first published in Harry Craddock’s Savoy Cocktail Book in 1930, noting, “Should there be no fog, take as preventatives lest there should be fog in the course of the day.” Originally, the drink did not call for Campari, but I prefer the addition.
Delicious, citrusy and refreshing, this drink certainly provides a quick wake-up call. Most people would likely prefer to sip with their weekend brunch, but don’t feel ashamed if you break from better judgement once in a while and suddenly find yourself with a brighter workday.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Level of Difficulty: Easy
Serving Size: 1 Cocktail:

Ingredients:

2 ounces Gin
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
3/4 ounce Campari
2 teaspoons Highway Highlands farm Orange Marmalade
2 dashes Orange Bitters

Directions:

Combine ingredients and shake, strain over a chilled coupe.
Garnish with orange peel.
